Championships 2009.

The Championships were a great success again in 2009. For all the match reviews and results please click on the link on the home page or visit the results section.

Prizegiving Dance

A great night was had by all at the 2009 Prizegiving Dance which was held at Falkirk Tryst Golf Club on September 11th. The venue was perfect and the excellent buffet and disco helped make the night a success. Norrie and Liz led the way on the dance floor with some nifty footwork and everyone was soon joining in.

Court Resurfacing

Plans are underway to have the courts resurfaced. We have been investigating avenues of funding but it is very difficult to obtain grant money in our situation and therefore will be relying on Club funds to meet costs.

Work will include entire resurfacing with TenniTop which is the same as our existing surface. Timescales and schedules have still to be agreed but I would estimate that reconstruction works will commence in June 2010.

We will also renew fencing around the courts and install new screening.

Club Nights

These nights will run on Monday and Wednesday nights throughout the year and an appointed organiser will be present each evening. All standards are welcome and you are guaranteed a fun/competative night of tennis.

I would ask all players wishing to attend Club Nights to bring along a few pounds as all those in attendance will contribute to the light tokens.

Could I ask for the patience of all regular Club Night attendees during the build up to our Championship Finals Day. I have received a few complaints of courts not being available due to Championship matches being played and whilst we will do all we can to make everyone happy it is essential, and the highlight of our year as a Club, that we meet the needs, and see a successful conclusion to, the schedule demands.

PLEASE NOTE THAT CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES WILL BE GIVEN PRIORITY OVER ALL PLAY AND THAT CLUB NIGHTS WILL BE RESTRICTED UNTIL THE CONCLUSION OF THE CHAMPIONSHIPS ON SEPTEMBER 6TH 2009.

Perhaps, if the Club Night regulars take part in the Championships next year the event will be made all the more 'THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR YEAR.'
